"Applied theorists of all departments, UNITE!"

Applied Theory Reading Group (ATRG) is a "joint venture" among Ph.D. students at the Rotman School of Management and the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto, which I initiated in January 2017. It is supervised by the Economic Analysis & Policy faculty, and has benefited from the support of Heski Bar-Isaac, Matt Mitchell, April Franco, Ig Horstmann, Frank Mathewson, and many others over the years. The purpose of this reading group is to bring together Ph.D. students from different disciplines whose research uses similar theoretical tools in economics.
Meetings are typically held once every two weeks. The group was paused for a long time during the COVID-19 period, and resumed in February 2021 in an online format (should be in person now). Members of ATRG are expected to present, in turn, either frontier applied theory papers or their own work.
If you are interested in receiving notifications about the reading group, you may try contacting the current organizers. I do not know who they are, or even whether the group is still active. You might try emailing applied theorists at Rotman to find an answer :)
Please note that no cookies, sandwiches, salads, coffee, beer, or printed papers will be provided. Feel free to bring your own (and share with others).
This page will not be updated, as I have graduated from U of T.
